The beauty and inspiration of Sisterhood
If you’re a Uk blogger then you can’t fail to have missed the social media explosion around Britmums Live last weekend. For my non-blogging readers, it’s the UK’s biggest blogging conference and takes place at The Brewery in London with hundreds of bloggers travelling from all over the UK (and some from abroad) to listen to speakers, watch round-table discussions, learn more about blogging and soak up the atmosphere.
It’s immense!
This year I was proud to represent the healthy habits mobile app Noom at the conference – did you see me in the fab t-shirt they made me? My husband and I lost 60lb between us using the app and I’m a big supporter of Noom’s ethos which is not just about losing weight but about creating healthy habits that last (Read more about why I’m a UK ambassador for the brand and sign up for my FREE blogger trial too!).
There was a different vibe at Britmums Live this year I felt. I don’t know why but it felt more chilled out, softer somehow. I went to some of the sessions and soaked up knowledge from Joanna Penn, Lucy Heath and Katy Orme.
And I was inspired.
But this year it wasn’t the sessions that inspired me. It was the people.
One of the reasons that I feel so blessed to be a part of the blogging community, apart from being able to park my backside down everyday at my desk and share my world with others, is the amazing women (and men) that I’ve met along the way.
Last weekend I got to spend two days with some of them and it was so special being in their company, their physical presence. It must sound strange to non-bloggers, but these are women that I speak to almost everyday online and we very, very rarely meet face to face.
With Aby, Hannah, Amy, Katie, Leigh, Vicki, Mirka, Zaz and so many others there was a sisterhood, a camerarderie, fun, laughter, tears and lots and lots of hugs.
We bounced ideas off each other, talked about where our blogs and our businesses were going, shared tentative plans and encouraged each other to go for it.
It was a beautiful high that I’m still coming down from.
Do you feel the same?
Perhaps you made new friends, rediscovered friendships or made connections that you never expected. So how do you keep that feel-good vibe going when you go home?
- Make a list! Look back at the business cards you collected and make a list of everyone that you connected with on a personal or professional level – do it now before you forget
- Follow. Using your list follow everyone that you met up with on your social media channel of choice – Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest – and use it as a way to keep the conversation going. A simple “great to meet you at #Britmumslive” can get the ball rolling if you’re not sure what to say.
- Subscribe. Subscribe to the blogs of new friends and start commenting on their posts – they’ll probably do the same!
- Review your notes. If you feel overwhelmed by everything you learned at Britmums Live this year you’re not alone! The first year I went I had pages of notes and no idea where to start. I went through my notebook with a highlighter and pulled out the key points…
- Make goals … which I turned into measurable goals for my blog, transferring them into my blog planner with achieable actions for the coming months.
- Don’t try and do too much! Small steps will climb the mountain just the same as big ones – it might take a little longer but you’ll enjoy the view so much more.
Were you at Britmums Live this year? What was special about it for you? How do you keep the good vibes going?
P.S. Don’t forget to leave a comment below if you’d like to take part in the FREE Noom blogger trial with me.

I find myself feeling quite jealous of all the people that attended BritMums Live this year. I put it off and put it off until it was too late. This is the first year I’ve actually paid attention and read about it and now all I want to do is attend and meet all you fabulous ladies!
I’ve promised myself (and warned the Hubby) that I WILL be attending next year.

I teased on Twitter that with that t-shirt I would not be able to miss you BUT I honestly did not see you at any point not even in the distance as I did with many peops. I had no clue till reading this that Zaz was there another person missed.
Lovely post and well done on the weight loss, Liska
