Share the Joy link up #10

Share the Joy link up #10

What makes a Mother?

I posted the quote below as part of my Daily Joy Instagram Project yesterday because it really resonated for me, not least because it was Mother’s Day here in the UK (I know my US readers have to wait another couple of months – sorry!). Oprah Winfry, that powerhouse of wisdom, also said: “Biology is the least of what makes a Mother” and, particularly in the light of the, in my opinion, justified furore around D&G this morning, ain’t that the truth?! (Without the medical miracle of IVF I would not be a mother myself.)

I salute all Mothers (and Fathers), whether they are gay, straight, natural or assisted. ‘Motherhood’ is a gift in whatever form it’s received. And it isn’t just who we are – it’s what we do, every day.

Mother is a verb...

Right, off my soapbox, and on to the link up!

Thank you so much to everyone that joined in last week – the most link ups so far! I’m loving reading all your joyful posts and I hope that sharing the joy brightens your day too.

Don’t forget that all genres are welcome here – new posts or old favourites. Posts that might have made you laugh out loud, opened your heart, raised your spirits or just made you smile!

Sharing my joy

Each week, I’ll pick a favorite post and feature it on the following week’s Share the Joy link up (I’ve also made a  where you’ll find all my favorites in one place).

Last week when I started reading , I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a post that would make me smile! But this post from Maria at Collecting Moments (a new and fab find for me) actually gave me a real lift! She’s a bit wise that Maria.

I’d also like to give a special mention to the fabulous Mirka from All Baby Advice who celebrated 6 years blogging in Happy 6th Blogiversary to All Baby Advice – woo hoo!

This week I’m sharing a post that’s about letting go of the neat freak in me, just going with the flow – literally! – and Making the time for Pouring.

Let’s Share the Joy!

1) Link up the posts that have brought you JOY – Writing them might have made you laugh out loud, opened your heart, raised your spirits or just made you smile. All genres are welcome, new posts or old favourites and as many links as you like!

2) Link back to me either by including the Share the Joy badge (below) or a text link back to this Share the Joy linky page in your own post.

3) Please comment on one of my posts and a few others. Let’s Share the JOY through commenting as well as through our posts!

Share the Joy will run for a whole week until the following week’s linky is open, so you’ll never be too late. And don’t forget to tweet me the url to your post using the hashtag #sharethejoylinky so I can retweet it.

Feel free to invite your friends to join in – JOY is always better when it’s shared!

  2. I love both sets of words you shared, and completely agree with you! Motherhood has nothing to do with biology and physicality. Anyone can be called mom, despite on how well or worse they do things. It’s parenting that takes work–the act of balancing it it all, the action of self-sacrifice, and selflessness–that’s the difficult part; the one we must work hardest at doing. And your words are a great reminder of that.

Thank you for the mention! Your support means the world, and I appreciate every bit of it! Hope your mother’s day went well! Happy Monday.

  3. Thanks beautiful for another fab week and look how this linky is growing, testament to how amazing you are. Adore Maria’s post, we must stop the guilt. In particular ‘I am not super-human’ it’s important we remember we are just humans, trying our best. I’ve linked my natural beauty products post too as these really make me happy and keep me healthy too. Yay for Mirka’s 6 years too, amazing. Thanks xx
