“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” – Dr Seuss

We packed, we packed and we packed some more and then it was finally time to leave Bod Towers and drive to our new home. Our dream home. The home that, I hope, we never move from again.

As I drove away towards The Barn (yep, it has to have a nickname!) the sadness I felt melted away as I remembered all the amazing memories we’d made in our old house and looked forward to the new ones still to come. This quote from Dr Seuss fitted my mood perfectly. We’re still unpacking boxes – and I apologise for not replying to all your lovely comments guys, it’s been chaos here! – but we’ve already toasted our arrival with something suitably bubbly in front of our new fireplace… of course!

We’re here and we’re in, so let the happy memory-making begin.

Right, on to the link up!

Thank you so much to everyone that joined in last week – this linky is really going from strength to strength! I’m loving reading all your joyful posts and I hope that sharing the joy raises your spirits too.

Don’t forget that all genres are welcome here – new posts or old favourites. Posts that might have made you laugh out loud, opened your heart, raised your spirits or just made you smile!

Sharing my joy

Each week, I’ll pick a favorite post and feature it on the following week’s Share the Joy link up (I’ve also made a  where you’ll find all my favorites in one place).

Circus Mums

Last week I felt so uplifted and inspired reading a two part post from Tinuke at Circus Mums about why quitting her dream job left her happier – you’ll love it! And I also want to say a huge thank you to Eline from Pasta and Patchwork who did such a great job of co-hosting with me last week (if you’d like to be a future guest host just leave me a note in the comments below.)

This week I’m sharing a crowdsourced post with some wonderful top tips for moving house from 15 fabulous bloggers (what else!) and a powerful and emotional parenting post about creating a positive parenting template from an author who asked to remain anonymous but still wanted to share her story in the home that it will help others – it is quite possibly the perfect Share the Joy post!

Let’s Share the Joy!

1) Link up posts that have brought you JOY – Writing them might have made you laugh out loud, opened your heart, raised your spirits or just made you smile. All genres are welcome, new posts or old favourites and as many links as you like!

2) Link back to me either by including the Share the Joy badge (below) or a text link back to this Share the Joy linky page in your own post.

3) Please comment on one of my posts and a few others. Let’s Share the JOY through commenting as well as through our posts!

Share the Joy will run for a whole week until the following week’s linky is open, so you’ll never be too late. And don’t forget to tweet me the url to your post using the hashtag #sharethejoylinky so I can retweet it.

Feel free to invite your friends to join in – JOY is always better when it’s shared!

  5. Looks like such a wonderful place to make new memories! I’m sure no matter where you are, as long as your family is there, the moments will be happy ones. Always keep in mind: it’s not the house that makes the memory it’s the people in it that make it a home. Thanks so much for hosting us this week! Hope all is well and chaos is at a minimum :)

  6. When we moved house I realised that I wasn’t nearly as sad to leave our previous home behind as I expected, because I took my memories with me, and my home is with my family. I looked forward to making new memories. Good luck with the unpacking… We still have a garage full of boxes :) So pleased to have finally managed to link up!

    • Exactly! I feel the same Sara, especially since visiting the old house this week and seeing how empty it felt. Great closure for the kids though. Thanks for linking up – great to have you here! x

  9. What a lovely post Michelle! I would LOVE to move as our house is rapidly becoming a drain! We have dreams to build our own house but I fear that will never happen. In the meantime, thank you for your participation in Embrace Happy and for your constant uplifting presence!

  11. I confess, I LOVE moving. It’s an opportunity to declutter and streamline life, to move onto new adventures. We’re moving over this Easter holidays (eek!) and it’s a fantastic opportunity — as we go through old boxes of books and photos, baby clothes and toys — to talk about my daughter’s early years with her, to remind ourselves what we’ve been through, and to plan what’s to come. Onward and upward, I say!

    • You know it’s funny. I was so excited about the move before it happened, stressed out on the day and now it seems a long time ago already – although the unpacked boxes are a constant reminder! Good luck with your move too Jen – how exciting! Thanks for linking up this week x

    • Thanks so much Mirka – it’s funny but we went back to the old house this week so I could clean it up ready for it’s new owners and it didn’t feel like home at all. More pictures of The barn are on the way… :)
