Frock it! #2

It’s Frock It! time again. Wow, that week went quickly! Time flies when you’re chasing a toddler around like a mad thing having fun. I was mightily impressed with the lovely Mid30sLife‘s new celebrity followers for the second edition of this fashion meme. No such glamour here I’m afraid *sigh*. Still, I can show you my love and loathe dresses from the recent Annual Costume Institute Gala in the U.S.
First off – LOVE this:
Naomi Campbell in a white tulle crystal embroidered gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander Mcqueen. It’s dripping theatricality, a real work of art. Not so sure about the hairstyle though – would have gone for something simpler myself, but I’m not an international model so I should probably hush.
But sorry – LOATHE this:
Such a shame. Ms Lopez has a beautiful, womanly, REAL figure but this pink creation by Gucci does her no favours what-so-ever. And I hope the security men showed the door to whoever planted those roses on her shoulders. Me no likey.

‘Fraid I don’t like either of those, though if I had to pick one it would be the Jennifer Lopez one, as the one Naomi’s rocking made me think of a lampshade straight away!!
I found Frock It through your blog, so big thanks for that – am loving it!

Ha ha! You have a point. But I just love the detail on the bodice. Glad you’re enjoying Frock It, Mid30sLife rocks :D

I think I prefer J-Lo’s actually, the colour is lovely and suits her- tho yeah, the shape does nothing, it shoudl show off her curves! Naomi’s is a bit tasselly for me ;) Good choices, love seeing what they wear for the Annual CIG

Oh thank you, does it make me really sad I could read that comment again and again??? Don’t answer that.

I have to say I don’t love either dress but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colour of the second one. But the roses on the shoulder…???? What the…?

You’re spot on about Naomi’s dress being a work of art, I’d love a good up-close look at it.

    Thanks for frocking again!! xxxx

mmm, got to say I agree Miss Lopez’s dress does her no favours and well the roses just finish it off! Like the idea of this link so might well have to join in!

hmmmm, I’m not sure I like Naomi’s. Kind of looks like the moths have been at it and she got it stuck in the office shredder.

I wholeheartedly agree. Love Naomi’s gown but the hairdo is rather heavy handed with the gown. The Gucci gown looks like the designer didn’t know when to stop designing or in what direction to head. The roses on the shoulders and the scarf thingy around the neck make the elegant dress look thrown together.

I agree. Ms Lopez usually looks so amazing, but this just didn’t work for me at all.

I agree it should show off those lovely curves! You’re right though, the colour is stunning :D

I know, what’s with that foliage? And yes, join in! :D

Ha ha!! rofl. Now that you mention it…. :D

I’m loving the divided opinion about these two dresses! Totally with you about the over-designing by Gucci. Somewhere under the flowers and the scarf is a half-decent dress. Shame.

Me either. I do like the colour on her though….
